You need to collect a bunch of ID information. Decipher the fine print to figure out what's required for your specific application. Get a passport photo taken. And mail everything to Indigenous Services Canada (ISC). That's a whole lot of work!

The wait time can take many months with ISC and you’re left unsure of when you'll receive your card as there are no regular updates. Even after you've completed your application, you don’t know if you've done everything right for at least 2-3 months! And you may still be rejected, resulting in having to send in a whole new application with all your info again.
